| Welcome to Manimalis
Manimalis is an independent, non-profit organization working to increase awareness of the benefits of pets for the society as well as the individual. In July of 2010 People & Animals: For Life was arranged in Stockholm. It was the 12th international congress arranged by IAHAIO with the primary purpose of transmitting knowledge and increasing awareness about the positive effects pets have on individuals and the society. Manimalis is the Scandinavian representative in the umbrella organization IAHAIO (International Association of Human Animal Interaction Organisations). One of the main reasons Sweden and Manimalis were elected for hosting this event is that Sweden is an internationally known leading country regarding responsible pet owning. Previous congresses have for example been organized in Tokyo (2007), Glasgow (2004) and Rio de Janeiro (2001) where it successfully have gathered the world’s leading scientists and representatives in the area. The congress organized in July 2010 was called People & Animals: For Life. The name has a double meaning; the positive health effects that pets have within the health and medical care, and the lifelong relationship that is developed between human and pet.
